The Jatigede Hydroelectric Plant is awarded the Best Localized Power Plant Contribution Award.
The Jatigede Hydroelectric Plant was recently awarded the Best Localized Power Plant Contribution Award by Indonesia's State Electricity Company (PLN). It is the only foreign-invested project in Indonesia to receive this honor in 2024, highlighting its contributions to regional economic and energy development and achievements in localization.
The Jatigede Hydroelectric Plant was built by a joint venture between POWERCHINA and Indonesia's PP Company. Employing the existing Jatigede Dam, the plant delivers excellent power generation benefits. It has been widely praised for contributing significantly to local flood control, irrigation, power generation, and water resource management. The project also created over 20,000 jobs in Indonesia, and significantly improved local living standards.
Drawing water from the Jatigede Reservoir, which has a storage capacity of 1.06 billion cubic meters, the plant is designed with a flow capacity of 73 cu m per second and an installed capacity of 110 megawatts. It generates approximately 450 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, meeting the annual electricity needs of around 500,000 Indonesian households. The project plays a critical role in alleviating regional energy shortages and supporting Indonesia's industrialization efforts.
On June 28, 2024, the plant was officially handed over to Indonesia's State Electricity Company, marking the success of POWERCHINA's first hydropower project in the Indonesian market.
