Representatives from Serbia and POWERCHINA attend the signing ceremony.
On Dec 10, POWERCHINA officially signed the Lot 2 contract for Phase 1 of the Belgrade Metro Line 1 project in Serbia. This marks the fourth project contract signed by POWERCHINA since it began promoting its involvement in the Belgrade Metro series in 2019. As one of the most significant civil construction contracts for the metro's mainline, it signifies the formal commencement of Serbia's metro mainline construction.
Phase 1 of Metro Line 1 is located in Belgrade, Serbia's capital. It is Serbia's first metro project and one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. The 15.4-kilometer line runs north-south through Belgrade's urban core.
The Lot 2 contract includes the construction of nine stations, two shafts, 4.1 km of at-grade and cut-and-cover sections, 3.1 km of shield-tunneling sections, procurement of TBM equipment, and establishment of a segment manufacturing site.
Once completed, the project will significantly ease traffic congestion in Belgrade's urban area, reduce air pollution, facilitate daily commuting, enhance residents' quality of life, and boost economic development.
