On Dec 13, POWERCHINA signed the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) general contracting agreement with Xaysana Energy for the Nam E-meng Hydropower Project in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
Eddie Lam, managing director of Xaysana Energy praised POWERCHINA’s strong global power engineering construction capabilities and outstanding business achievements in the Laos market. He hoped that both parties would cooperate closely to promote the project's smooth construction and timely completion. He also looked forward to strengthening discussions and cooperation in cross-border electricity sales to establish a long-term partnership and achieve mutual benefits.
The Nam E-meng Hydropower Project, located in the southern Sekong Province of Laos, has an installed capacity of 90 megawatts. The project will be included in the Laos-Cambodia power interconnection plan, and the electricity will be primarily exported to Cambodia. This aims to help alleviate Cambodia's seasonal electricity supply shortages and promote complementarity in the two countries' energy, economic development, and livelihood improvements.
