The Jerada Power Plant.
On Dec 16, POWERCHINA received a congratulatory letter from Morocco's National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE). The letter commended the completion of the November overhaul of the Jerada Power Plant and its early connection to the grid.
Due to high electricity demand and tight grid capacity in Morocco, the overhaul period for the Jerada unit was shortened from 20 days to 16 days. Facing this challenging timeline, POWERCHINA meticulously planned the maintenance strategy, employed its technical expertise, and strictly adhered to the maintenance plan and safety management requirements.
After 15 days, POWERCHINA completed the overhaul one day ahead of schedule, achieving grid connection on the first attempt. The client highly praised this accomplishment.
This project includes Morocco's first 350 megawatts ultra-supercritical air-cooled coal-fired unit. Since being commissioned, the Jerada Power Plant has exceeded annual power generation targets for seven consecutive years, with a cumulative output of over 17.8 billion kilowatt-hours. This has alleviated power shortages in eastern Morocco and contributed greatly to the country's energy development and public welfare.
The project has earned widespread acclaim from the client and local authorities, drawing attention from French media outlet DayFR Euro and Moroccan publication L' Opinion. These achievements have significantly enhanced POWERCHINA's brand recognition and influence in Morocco.
