The President of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, presided over the recently held groundbreaking ceremony for the Moruca Hospital (Region 1) and Kato Hospital (Region 8) projects, which are to be built by POWERCHINA in Guyana.

President Irfaan Ali stated, "The Moruca and Kato hospitals are not just investments in public health but also a testament to the government’s commitment to social equity. Advancing these projects will significantly improve healthcare services for residents in remote areas, bringing tangible improvements to their lives."

Minister of Health Frank Anthony emphasized that these hospitals will greatly facilitate the local population by bringing medical services close at hand, marking a significant step toward equitable healthcare.

The two hospitals will provide emergency and surgical services, obstetrics and pediatrics care, laboratory testing, and diagnostic imaging (X-ray and ultrasound) services. They will serve over 30,000 residents in Regions 1 and 8 and surrounding areas, becoming a new benchmark for China-Guyana cooperation.
