The Shelek Wind Farm.
The Kazakhstan Shelek Wind Farm, invested and constructed by POWERCHINA, reached a cumulative annual power generation of 228 million kilowatt-hours on Dec 26, meeting its 2024 target.
This is the first year of independent operation and maintenance for the Shelek Wind Farm, with POWERCHINA implementing cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing measures. By continuously refining its lean operational competitiveness, the company has positioned "power generation management" as its core focus. It has scientifically formulated operational strategies, optimized production processes, and adhered to the principle of "making the most of every gust of wind" to maximize power generation.
The Shelek Wind Farm is POWERCHINA's flagship renewable energy project in Central Asia and is listed as a key project in the "China-Kazakhstan Production Capacity Cooperation List". In July 2022, the wind farm achieved full-capacity grid connection and now provides approximately 220 million kWh of clean electricity annually. This significantly alleviates power shortages in southern Kazakhstan and improves the region's reliance on a single-source energy structure.
