The Ulog Hydropower Plant.
On Jan 9, as the Unit 1 of the Ulog Hydropower Plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina was connected to the grid, the plant achieved full grid connection. This plant is POWERCHINA's first hydropower EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) project in the European market and the first one built by a Chinese company in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The plant, which has a total installed capacity of 35.14 megawatts, is located in Kalinovik, Republika Srpska, and is a major clean energy project in the region. The plant features a 53-meter-high concrete double-curvature arch dam and a reservoir capacity of 6.44 million cubic meters. Key structures include an ecological flow powerhouse, a diversion tunnel on the right bank, and a water conveyance and power generation system on the left bank.
Since Nov 2, POWERCHINA has strictly adhered to contractual standards for the commissioning tasks. On Nov 27, POWERCHINA connected Unit 2 to the grid, which has operated steadily for approximately 400 hours.
The Ulog Hydropower Plant will continuously supply clean electricity to the local area, drive regional economic development, and contribute to the energy transition.
