The certification for POWERCHINA's central material testing laboratory of the Diamer Basha Dam Project in Pakistan.

The central material testing laboratory of the Diamer Basha Dam Project in Pakistan, which is being built by POWERCHINA and is set to become the world's tallest and largest roller-compacted concrete dam, received its ISO/IEC 17025 certification from the Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) on Jan 19. It is the first construction site laboratory in Pakistan to achieve such certification.

Since its establishment in December 2020, the laboratory has been focused on equipping itself with internationally advanced testing equipment. Currently, it is outfitted with 109 high-end devices, including those for Poisson's ratio, axial tensile modulus, and concrete creep deformation tests, enabling comprehensive testing and evaluation from basic material performance to complex system analyses.

The laboratory also features a standardized working environment and an advanced environmental control system, capable of precisely adjusting parameters such as temperature and humidity. This ensures accurate and repeatable test results, providing precise and efficient testing support for project execution.

The project team began pursuing ISO certification in July 2022, completing all parallel testing required to meet international standards by March 2024 and officially receiving the certification on Jan 7, 2025. The ISO certification demonstrates that the laboratory meets international standardized management requirements in areas such as document management, resource management, environmental management, and testing processes.
