Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Jatigede Hydroelectric Plant, built by POWERCHINA, on Jan 20.

In his speech, Subianto said that the Jatigede Hydroelectric Plant, as a model of green energy, generates 450 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually – enough to meet the power needs of approximately 500,000 Indonesian households – and reduces coal consumption by 48,000 metric tons per year, making a significant contribution to Indonesia's energy conservation and emissions reduction efforts.

He also praised POWERCHINA's exceptional construction capabilities and expressed hope for more collaborations with the company in the future.

The Jatigede Hydroelectric Plant is a diversion hydropower project that draws water from the existing Jatigede Reservoir, which has a storage capacity of 1.06 billion cubic meters. The station is equipped with two 55-megawatt generating units and designed for a water flow of 73 cu m per second. Key structures include a diversion tunnel, a vertical surge shaft, a pressure pipeline, a semi-underground powerhouse, a switchyard, and more.

The plant is POWERCHINA's first successful hydropower generation project in the Indonesian market. Completed on June 26, 2024, the plant has now been operating safely for over six months.
