The inauguration ceremony of the Alba (Aluminium Bahrain)'s Power Station 5 (PS5) Block 4 Project, built by POWERCHINA, was held on Feb 18 at the project site. The ceremony was attended by the owner's chairman, Mr. Khalid Al Rumaihi, and CEO, Mr. Ali Al Baqali.
Mr. Khalid Al Rumaihi highly praised POWERCHINA for its dedication. He noted that the project's high-quality completion showcased POWERCHINA's strength and responsibility as an outstanding EPC contractor and contributed to Alba's capacity expansion.
Located in the Askar area of Bahrain's Southern Governorate, the project is a combined-cycle power plant designed to have an installed capacity of 680.8 megawatts in winter and 592.4 MW in summer. On Dec 21, 2024, the project completed a 30-day full-plant reliability operation, achieving the Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) and obtaining the Taking Over Certificate (TOC).
The project's commissioning is crucial for boosting Alba's production capacity and promoting local economic development.
