At the ceremony, after listening to a detailed briefing from POWERCHINA representatives on the project and its preliminary preparations, President Ruto unveiled the project plaque, activated the site equipment, and announced the commencement of construction.
In his speech, President Ruto praised POWERCHINA for its remarkable achievements in Kenya over the years. He highlighted the company's contribution to Kenya's national development through high-quality projects, which have earned widespread recognition and appreciation from the local.
The project is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in southwestern Kenya, running along the Kenya-Tanzania border. The 66.5-kilometer road project involves upgrading the existing gravel road into a high-grade asphalt concrete highway.
The road will significantly improve local transport, shorten travel time between Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks, and play a vital role in promoting local agricultural and tourism development.
