On March 5, Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa attended the foundation-laying ceremony for POWERCHINA's Kidunda Dam Project.
Prime Minister Majaliwa and his delegation inspected key construction areas, including the powerhouse and spillway. They also received a detailed briefing from the project owner's representatives on the progress of the dam's main structure, powerhouse, spillway, and transmission system. Majaliwa then presided over a foundation-laying ceremony on the dam’s left bank.
After listening to reports on construction progress, technical challenges, and safety management, Majaliwa commended POWERCHINA for its efficient collaboration and achievements. He highlighted that the progress reflects POWERCHINA's strong execution capabilities and sense of responsibility.
As a major national project, the Kidunda Dam will alleviate water shortages in downstream areas, promote agricultural irrigation, and drive economic growth. It will also significantly improve livelihoods and advance green development.
