On March 25, POWERCHINA handed over 113 schools of the Iraq Model School Project to the owners, including 61 schools in Diwaniyah Governorate and 52 schools in Maysan Governorate, further strengthening POWERCHINA's leading position in Iraq's infrastructure construction sector.
The Iraq Model School Project is the Iraqi government's highest priority and most important project. It is also the country's largest ongoing public welfare project, carrying significant importance. The first phase plans for 1,000 schools, with POWERCHINA undertaking 679 across 10 governorates in central and southern Iraq.
Diwaniyah and Maysan became the third batch of governorates, after Muthanna and Babylon, to complete the handover of all schools.
The 52 schools in Maysan are expected to accommodate about 30,000 students, significantly improving local educational facilities.
During the project's implementation, POWERCHINA overcame various challenges to ensure its progress. The Diwaniyah project team earned high praise for its professional expertise and rigorous management, while the Maysan project team completed 11,526 acceptance checks with a 100 percent first-time pass rate, setting an excellent quality record through scientific planning and construction processes.
Both projects established strict quality control systems, showcasing POWERCHINA's outstanding construction management and quality control capabilities.
