China Media Group's Middle East Branch conducted a live broadcast featuring POWERCHINA's Abu Dhabi PV3 Al Ajban 1.5 GW Solar Project (PV3 Project) in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 on March 28.
Using the PV3 Project as an example, the interview explored POWERCHINA's global expansion, challenges and opportunities, and localized management strategies. It highlighted how Chinese enterprises are driving the green transition in the Middle East and underscored POWERCHINA’s key role in the region's renewable energy transformation.
CCTV Journalist Zhang Zhuoya asked: "What prompted POWERCHINA to expand globally and enter the UAE?" The project manager responded, "Our slogan is 'POWERCHINA, POWER THE WORLD'. As a leading force in green energy construction, we are committed to advancing renewable energy worldwide. By bringing Chinese products, technology, and standards to the global stage, POWERCHINA is not only promoting green energy adoption but also contributing to global capacity balance."
Viewers flooded the comment section with praise and POWERCHINA's slogan. International viewers commented, "I really like this company," and "POWERCHINA is in my country too."
The live broadcast also featured Rani, the civil construction supervisor and an employee of the PV3 Project, who shared his experience working with POWERCHINA. Having been with the company for three years, Rani expressed admiration for its corporate culture and enthusiasm for the job. He emphasized that working at POWERCHINA has been a highly rewarding experience, contributing to his personal and professional growth.
The PV3 Project is POWERCHINA's largest overseas solar EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract. It covers approximately 20 square kilometers – equivalent to 2,801 soccer fields – and has a total installed capacity of 1,500 MW. Construction began on Sept 1, 2024, and grid connection is planned for April 30, 2026.
The project currently employs over 50 Chinese management staff and more than 100 foreign workers. Peak employment is expected to exceed 4,000, significantly boosting local job opportunities.
Over its implementation, the project is projected to create more than 10,000 jobs, contribute to local GDP growth, and increase tax revenues. Once completed, the PV3 Project will provide electricity for approximately 160,000 households annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2.4 million metric tons, aligning with local government energy transition goals and promoting sustainable green development.
