On April 5, POWERCHINA held completion ceremonies for 123 schools in five Iraqi governorates – Baghdad, Dhi Qar, Diwaniyah, Maysan, and Najaf – under the Iraq Model School Project.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani attended the ceremony via video from his office, accompanied by Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi, Secretary-General of the Iraqi Cabinet, and Ibrahim Namis, Minister of Education.

This event marked the full completion of all 679 model schools constructed by POWERCHINA, following the initial batch of 556 schools on Nov 23, 2023.

In his video address, Prime Minister Al Sudani praised POWERCHINA for the project's high-quality execution and timely handover. He emphasized that the partnership between the Iraqi government and POWERCHINA was key to the project's success.

The full completion of the schools has strengthened the government's confidence in advancing Iraq's education sector. He stated that Iraq will continue increasing investment in basic education and improving educational infrastructure.

The 679 schools, spanning ten provinces, will provide modern learning environments for over 40,000 students, significantly alleviating the shortage of educational facilities and accelerating the modernization of Iraq's education system. The project received widespread acclaim from both the government and the public.
