On April 4, witnessed by Guyanese Prime Minister Mark Phillips, POWERCHINA signed contracts for Sections I and III of the Phase II project under Guyana's 2024 Infrastructure Development Plan.

The signing ceremony was attended by Deodat Indar, Guyana's deputy minister of public works; Kesh Nandlall, CEO of the Guyana Power and Light Company; and Shen Dan, chief representative of POWERCHINA Caribbean.

The project involves the construction and upgrading of multiple transmission and transformation lines and substations from the Demerara region to the Berbice region. As a key component of Guyana's infrastructure development efforts, it plays a vital role in upgrading the national power grid and connecting new gas power stations. The project will benefit major population centers in Regions 3, 4, 5, and 6.

This is the first large-scale power infrastructure project in the Caribbean and POWERCHINA's second power project in Guyana. Moving forward, POWERCHINA will continue to deepen its presence in the Guyanese market and work to enhance its brand recognition and influence.
