A new school built by POWERCHINA in the Karkh district of Baghdad province, Iraq.
On April 15, POWERCHINA handed over 93 newly constructed schools in the Karkh district of Baghdad province, Iraq.
This marks the sixth province in Iraq to receive delivery of the demonstration school project, setting a new record for the highest number of schools handed over in a single province.
As a top-priority wellbeing initiative by the Iraqi government, POWERCHINA is tasked with constructing 144 schools in Baghdad and 45 in Babylon, covering 558,900 square meters.
Faced with challenges like dispersed school locations, tight timelines, and complex construction environments, the project team tackled these obstacles through innovative management and technical advancements. On Feb 26, all 45 schools in Babylon were handed over, making it the second province to achieve complete project delivery.
The Iraqi government praised the rapid progress of the school projects in Baghdad and Babylon and described them as "exemplary projects of China-Iraq cooperation".
POWERCHINA has reached the final stages of this extensive initiative, having completed the handover of 182 out of 189 schools in Iraq. Only seven schools in Sadr city, Baghdad, remain to be delivered. The project team is working hard to complete the remaining tasks and expects to meet all goals within one to two weeks.
These schools will accommodate 74,400 students, significantly enhancing the local educational environment and marking a historic leap in Iraq's educational infrastructure.
