POWERCHINA delivers power plant in Indonesia

Updated: April 18,2025

The Jinjiang Power Plant in Indonesia, constructed by POWERCHINA, has delivered Unit 2, marking the handover of the 1×45 MW (condensing) and 1×30 MW (back pressure) units, as part of the BAP Phase I alumina Project.

This accomplishment highlights POWERCHINA's exceptional execution capabilities and bolsters its brand reputation in the Indonesian market while contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative.

The project's origins trace back to an agreement signed on October 3, 2013, between the Chinese and Indonesian governments, establishing the framework for the Indonesia-China Integrated Industrial Park.

This agreement, along with an investment cooperation pact between West Kalimantan province and Hangzhou Jinjiang Group, include initiatives in alumina processing, bauxite mining, industrial parks, and waste-to-energy power generation. The Jinjiang Power Plant Project commenced on March 7, 2024.

POWERCHINA adheres to the principle that "quality is the best international business card", deploying its top resources to manage and construct the project. The team overcame numerous challenges, such as tight construction timelines, delayed equipment deliveries, and adverse weather conditions, including high temperatures and heavy rainfall.

Significant milestones during the construction phase included completing the boiler hydrostatic test, turbine cover installation, plant power reception, boiler blowdown, and reliability test runs. The project was completed in 13 months, setting a record for the fastest construction of similar units in POWERCHINA's overseas ventures.

To ensure the high-quality completion of Unit 2, the team engaged in meticulous planning and scientific management, using insights gained from the construction of Unit 1 to enhance methods and efficiency.

This project is of substantial economic and social significance. It has created thousands of jobs and significantly improved residents' living standards.
