The Chinese Consulate General in Luang Prabang, Laos, hosted a reception on April 22 to celebrate the 2025 International Chinese Language Day. The event brought together a diverse group of individuals, including Laotian employees of the Nam Ou River Project, a notable collaboration between POWERCHINA and Laos.

Consul General Zhang Sheping delivered an address during the event, emphasizing the enduring significance of the Chinese language and its profound cultural heritage.

He highlighted the mutual benefits of cultural exchange and learning, reaffirming China's dedication to strengthening cultural ties and fostering linguistic connections with Laos to facilitate expanded cultural exchanges and cultivate a shared future for the China-Laos community.

Engaging in traditional Chinese activities such as calligraphy, tea ceremonies, paper-cutting, and classical painting, project employees immersed themselves in the rich tapestry of Chinese culture, deepening their appreciation for its beauty and significance.

Many expressed gratitude for the language's role as a vital communication bridge, fostering cultural understanding and exchange between the two nations.

The project strongly emphasizes empowering its local workforce. Initiatives like Chinese language training sessions and mentorship programs have significantly improved Laotian employees' language proficiency and overall skills. These efforts drive the project forward and contribute to local societal development.

The project remains committed to using its strengths to promote cultural exchanges between China and Laos, fortify the foundation of the China-Laos community for a shared future, and foster a new era of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
