The Amunet 500 MW Wind Power Project in Egypt's Gulf of Suez, constructed by POWERCHINA, commenced commercial operations on May 29.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in Egypt's journey towards optimizing its energy structure and advancing its green transition.

Situated approximately 300 kilometers southeast of Cairo and about 8 kilometers north of Ras Ghareb, the project features a total installed capacity of 500 MW, utilizing 77 EN171-6.5 MW wind turbines.

The project encompassed the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the wind turbines and their foundations, as well as lifting platforms, collection lines, on-site roads, meteorological towers, and a 33/220 kV booster station.

The project team demonstrated exceptional planning, organization, and execution, scheduling construction activities and utilizing precise wind condition forecasts to guide turbine installation.

During the grid connection phase, a 24/7 shift system was implemented to boost overall efficiency. By optimizing resource allocation and construction management, the project was completed ahead of schedule, maintaining high safety standards and earning commendations from the project owner.

As POWERCHINA's first large-scale wind power venture in Egypt, the project has provided invaluable experience in building wind power facilities in high-temperature, windy desert environments. It also establishes a strong foundation for the company's expansion of wind power operations in the Middle East and North Africa.
