The Redstone EPC Project in South Africa commences commercial operation on May 30.

On May 30, the Redstone EPC Project in South Africa, developed by POWERCHINA, entered commercial operation after receiving the commercial operation certificate from the National Transmission Co of South Africa (NTCSA).

As the first tower molten salt concentrated solar power plant south of the Sahara Desert, the 100-MW project stands as the largest investment in South Africa's Northern Cape Province.

The project employs cutting-edge tower molten salt energy storage technology and includes the installation of 41,260 heliostats. It will deliver 785.5 GWh of clean electricity to the South African grid annually, meeting the energy needs of approximately 200,000 households.

The project plays a pivotal role in advancing South Africa's energy transition strategy by reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels and lowering local carbon emissions.
