POWERCHINA's Dawood Wind Power Project in Pakistan has completed its first transaction of International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC), marking a major step in the project's green energy initiatives.

The project team reached an agreement with a Dutch buyer to sell 11,345 green certificates. This achievement marks a significant "zero breakthrough" in the project's application, development, and trading of international green certificates.

This transaction signifies an important milestone in the exploration of the green energy industry for the Dawood project. Through extensive efforts in project registration, buyer identification, and certification, the team obtained official authorization from the I-REC Foundation, becoming a qualified participant and registrant in the I-REC market.

The initial issuance and sale of 11,345 green certificates equate to offsetting approximately 5,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This transaction monetizes the environmental value of renewable energy and creates a new revenue model of "electricity-certificates-carbon", injecting fresh momentum into the project's sustainable and high-quality development.

I-REC, or "International Renewable Energy Certificate", is an environmental rights and interests voucher. Each certificate represents 1 MWh of renewable energy electricity and is widely used to record and declare the power sources of renewable energy such as wind, solar, and hydro used by enterprises.

As an internationally recognized standard for recording renewable energy consumption, I-REC is adopted by most well-known global enterprises to help them fulfill their commitments to green power consumption.
