From June 16 to 18, the second China-Central Asia Summit was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, marking a significant milestone for the Belt and Road Initiative.
As a key player in this initiative, POWERCHINA has been instrumental in executing numerous significant projects across the five Central Asian countries, delivering substantial benefits to local communities.
Since entering the Central Asian market in 1999, POWERCHINA has embraced a green development philosophy, completing landmark hydropower, wind power, and photovoltaics projects in countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
These initiatives have provided safe, green, and efficient energy solutions, while also fostering strong relationships with host countries. POWERCHINA's efforts have advanced the development of a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future.
Here are several highlights.
The Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart Road rehabilitated by POWERCHINA in Kyrgyzstan.
The Shelek Wind Farm in Kapchagay, Almaty region, with a total installed capacity of 60 MW, generates 228 million kWh of power annually. As POWERCHINA's first new energy investment in Central Asia, it was designed and constructed according to Chinese standards.
This project alleviates power shortages in southern Kazakhstan and diversifies the local energy production structure, supporting Kazakhstan's carbon reduction goals.
The Nur Navoi Solar Plant in Uzbekistan, the country’s first photovoltaic power station, comprises 298,928 solar panels and generates 278 million kWh annually. It reduces natural gas consumption by 80 million cubic meters and greenhouse gas emissions by 160 metric tons, setting a benchmark for ecological protection and energy development in Uzbekistan.
The Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart Road Rehabilitation Project in Kyrgyzstan is a crucial transportation artery connecting China and Kyrgyzstan. POWERCHINA employed advanced management concepts and models, completing approximately 155 kilometers of road rehabilitation, building a solid bridge of friendship between China and Kyrgyzstan.
POWERCHINA was also involved in constructing three modern primary schools in Bokhtar, Levakant, and Danghara in Tajikistan. These schools are equipped with essential facilities such as power supply, lighting, water supply, drainage, fire alarm systems, ventilation and heating, surveillance, and communication systems. The schools accommodate nearly 1,300 children.
