POWERCHINA signs EPC contracts with Chilean companies on June 16 for the expansion of two key substations.
On June 16, POWERCHINA signed EPC contracts with Chilean companies Transelec and CGE, as well as the French company Engie, for the expansion of two key substations under Chile's 2024 Decree No 4.
The contracts cover the G15 segment, which involves the expansion of a 500 kV substation, and the G04 segment, with the expansion of a 220 kV substation.
The G15 project is located in the Antofagasta region of northern Chile and includes OC01 and OC02, two sub-projects at the Parinas substation. The goal is to enhance the region's capacity for clean energy transmission.
The G04 project involves upgrading the San Juan and Algarrobal substations, aiming to optimize equipment configuration in the central-northern Chilean grid, improving its stability and operational efficiency.
Both projects are part of Chile's national grid upgrade plan, led by the National Electricity Coordinator.
This signing marks another significant milestone for POWERCHINA in the Chilean transmission sector, following the completion of a 500 kV transmission and transformation project.
These projects will significantly enhance grid stability in their respective regions and provide strong support for the modernization of Chile's energy infrastructure, contributing to the country's energy development goals.
POWERCHINA's contracting in Chile currently spans photovoltaic power stations, transmission and transformation projects, and grid system design.
POWERCHINA is committed to fulfilling its contractual requirements, effectively organizing project implementation, and ensuring high-quality, timely delivery to support Chile's energy development.
