Vietnam Electricity has issued a commercial operation certificate for the first 300 MW installation of the 600 MW Monsoon Wind Power Project in Laos, built by POWERCHINA.

This achievement marks a pivotal moment for the largest wind power project in Southeast Asia, advancing Laos's energy transition and strengthening cross-regional green power supply. It also lays a solid foundation for the project's full 600 MW commercial operation.

As the first cross-border power transmission new energy project in Asia, the project has navigated numerous challenges. The project team adopted proactive measures, such as maintaining close communication and coordination with the owner's senior management, participating in the grid approval process, and ensuring compliance with the new policy requirements of the Vietnam Electricity and Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Dynamic testing of the full-capacity 600 MW grid has been completed, with the project currently undergoing a 72-hour reliability running test and power quality test. Full-capacity commercial operation is expected to begin in August.
