On Aug 11, Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema visited the Kinguélé Aval Hydropower Station Project, built by POWERCHINA. The visit was extensively covered by major Gabonese media outlets.
President Nguema toured various areas, including the dam construction site and power station facilities. He received detailed briefings on the project's progress, technological applications, and quality control measures.
Nguema thanked frontline workers and praised the project's strategic importance in alleviating the current electricity supply pressures in Libreville, ensuring a stable power supply for residents, and driving economic and social development. He also commended POWERCHINA for its contributions to local employment and for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in participating in key national projects.
The Kinguélé Aval Hydropower Station is located downstream of Gabon's existing Tchimbélé and Kinguélé hydropower stations, approximately 100 kilometers from Libreville. With a planned installed capacity of 35 MW and three generator units, the project is expected to generate around 200 GWh of clean energy annually, accounting for 13 percent of the current electricity consumption in Libreville.
Since entering the Gabonese market in 2008, POWERCHINA has completed over 10 projects, spanning hydropower, water services, power transmission, highways, and building construction. Notably, this includes Gabon's largest hydropower station, the 160 MW Grand Poubara Project.
