Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze attended the opening ceremony for the F0 section of the E60 Highway on Aug 15, a critical infrastructure project constructed by POWERCHINA.

The E60 Highway, renowned as Georgia's "No 1 Project", serves as a vital transportation artery connecting the eastern and western regions of the country. The F0 section, located in Khashuri, is a crucial link in this network, connecting the capital, Tbilisi, with the western ports of Poti and Batumi, as well as the Turkish border.

The F0 section is a 6.36-kilometer, dual four-lane highway featuring 11 one-way bridges and five tunnels, with bridges and tunnels making up 56 percent of the route. This section started construction on March 1, 2021. During the construction process, the project team overcame adverse weather conditions, complex terrain, and other challenges. They innovated construction techniques and management models, carried out scientific construction, and successfully completed all the main lines and smoothly achieved the opening of this section.

The F0 section is expected to alleviate longstanding traffic congestion in Khashuri, providing a substantial boost to regional traffic flow. It will reduce travel time between Tbilisi and the major western port cities of Poti and Batumi, making daily commutes more efficient and convenient for residents.

It also includes a "fast lane" for freight transport, reducing logistics costs and enhancing distribution efficiency.

The F0 section will enhance the efficiency of international cargo transit within Georgia. It offers a more convenient and reliable land route for economic exchange and cooperation across the Eurasian region, accelerating the flow and integration of resources.

This development creates favorable conditions for industrial collaboration and trade among countries along the route, boosting the sustainable economic and social development of the Eurasian region.
