Augusto Archer de Sousa Mangueira, governor of Namibe province in Angola, inspected the dam rehabilitation projects undertaken by POWERCHINA on Aug 27.
These projects involve the restoration of 21 dams across the province.
Mangueira toured the 15th Cavo Dam and the 9th Mutipa Dam, where he was briefed on the progress and details of the projects. He examined the construction timelines, challenges encountered, and safety measures.
Mangueira expressed his full approval of the achievements so far, commending POWERCHINA for its professionalism and efficient execution.
He highlighted the transformative impact of these rehabilitation projects on mitigating the region's chronic water scarcity. The initiatives are designed to enhance living conditions for residents and bolster support for agriculture and livestock development.
They are also expected to contribute to social stability and sustainable economic growth in southern Angola.
The projects include desilting and repairing the dams. Preliminary site surveys have been completed, and over 15,000 cubic meters of earth and stone have been cleared.
