During the construction process, the POWERCHINA project team overcame numerous challenges through concerted efforts and perseverance., staying true to their commitment to "quenching the thirst of the people and ensuring the safety of the river basin".
The project, located in Sri Lanka's Gampaha District, involved building a reservoir with a storage capacity of approximately 3 million cubic meters, along with the design and construction of a dam, sluice gates, and spillway.
As a "livelihood hub" for the Gampaha region, the project is poised to meet the domestic, irrigation, and industrial water needs of around 250,000 residents. It plays a crucial role in flood control during the rainy season, safeguarding downstream villages and farmland.
The project underscores POWERCHINA's professional expertise and commitment to responsibility. The company will continue to cultivate its presence in Sri Lanka's key livelihood sectors such as power and water in Sri Lanka, contributing to the deepening of China-Sri Lanka cooperation and advancing the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
