POWERCHINA conquers extreme conditions to build I.E. GLORIOSO School.
The first school in package eight of the Peru Bicentennial School Program, I.E. GLORIOSO School, constructed by POWERCHINA, obtained its official handover certificate on Oct 14.
The school is located in the highlands of the Puno region in Peru, at an altitude of 4,313 meters, with a total construction area of 5,974 square meters, and can accommodate up to 1,000 students.
The area has a harsh climate, thin air, and extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night. The high-altitude environment posed significant challenges to the physical fitness of construction personnel and increased the difficulty of operating equipment, curing concrete, and transporting materials.
Facing these challenges, the project team coordinated work schedules, rest periods, and construction times while implementing special technical measures for cold protection, insulation, and high-altitude construction to ensure safety and project quality.
The project team also strictly adhered to overseas project management requirements, overcame challenges such as construction during the rainy season and poor transportation, and efficiently advanced the tasks in each phase.
POWERCHINA's Peru team will use this delivery as a starting point to summarize their experience, promote the construction of the remaining schools in the program, ensure the high-standard completion of package eight, and further deepen China-Peru friendship and cooperation.
