The "Khizi-Absheron" Wind Power Plant Project is the largest of its kind in the Transcaucasus region.
The completion ceremony for the 240 MW "Khizi-Absheron" Wind Power Plant Project, constructed by POWERCHINA, was held on Jan 8.
At the ceremony, Ilham Aliyev, president of Azerbaijan, praised POWERCHINA for its contributions to Azerbaijan's new energy development. He stated that the project's completion has further consolidated Azerbaijan's energy security and demonstrated the country's determination to fulfill its commitments to energy conservation and emissions reduction.
Lu Mei, China's ambassador to Azerbaijan, also commended the project and expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani government and the project owner for their support. She noted that the completion of the project is a significant milestone in the Sino-Azerbaijani energy transition and renewable energy cooperation, and that China is willing to continue working with Azerbaijan to jointly build a green Silk Road.
Mohammad Abunayyan, chairman of ACWA Power's board of directors, praised POWERCHINA's ability to fulfill contracts. He stated that the project achieved "zero safety accidents and zero quality defects" throughout the process, and that every detail, from turbine foundation construction and tower hoisting to unit grid connection commissioning, demonstrated POWERCHINA's professional strength.
He thanked POWERCHINA for its hard work on the project and looked forward to further cooperation.
The "Khizi-Absheron" Wind Power Plant Project is the largest single wind power plant in Azerbaijan and the Transcaucasus region, with a total installed capacity of 240 MW. It is expected to provide approximately 1 billion kWh of clean electricity annually to the area, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 400,000 metric tons, and supply power to 300,000 households.
This is of great significance for improving the regional energy structure and promoting the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system.
