Tanzanian Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Water Supply Systems for Kisesa, Buhogwa, Kishiri and Usagara Wards in Mwanza City and Neighbouring Areas, constructed by POWERCHINA, on Jan 23.
At the ceremony, Nchemba delivered a speech, emphasizing the project's strategic importance for Tanzania's socio-economic development. He praised the efficient organization and scientific, rigorous construction plan demonstrated during the project's commencement, affirming the professional technical level and systematic planning ability embodied by the project team.
He said the Tanzanian government is full of confidence in the smooth implementation and timely completion of the project.
Jumaa Aweso, Tanzania's Minister of Water, praised POWERCHINA's technical expertise and outstanding performance capability in water conservancy projects.
He said the meticulous construction plan and strict quality control standards formulated by the project aligned with Tanzania's construction goals of "high standards and strict requirements" for water conservancy projects related to people's livelihoods.
This project spans three administrative regions: Mwanza City, Magu District, and Misungwi District. Once completed, it will benefit more than 450,000 Tanzanian citizens, delivering on the government's pledge to ensure safe water access for every household.
It will also provide a stable and reliable water supply for small and micro-sized enterprises in the region, addressing production disruptions caused by water shortages and injecting strong momentum into regional economic development.
