The 50 MW Shinyanga Solar PV Project is the first of its kind in Tanzania.
The 50 MW Shinyanga Solar PV Project in Tanzania, constructed by POWERCHINA, achieved full-capacity grid connection on Feb 28, marking the opening of the country's first photovoltaic power station project.
The project has attracted widespread attention throughout its process, from design and construction to commissioning and grid integration, with the project team overcoming multiple challenges, including complex climatic conditions, tight equipment delivery schedules, and stringent grid coordination requirements.
Through scientific construction planning, strict quality and safety control, and efficient system commissioning and grid testing, full-capacity grid connection was achieved in a single effort. The team's professional capabilities, organizational efficiency, and dedication during critical phases have received high praise from the client.
With an average annual power generation of approximately 72 million kWh, the project will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 57,000 metric tons per year and alleviate local electricity supply-demand pressure.
The full-capacity grid connection demonstrates POWERCHINA's technical strength and contract fulfillment capabilities in overseas new energy projects, setting a benchmark for Tanzania's large-scale renewable energy development.
POWERCHINA's project team will continue to optimize operations and enhance maintenance management to ensure the power station operates safely, stably, and efficiently, delivering long-term value to Tanzania's green energy initiatives.
