Angolan president inspects POWERCHINA's M'Banza Congo New Airport Project

Angolan President João Lourenço visited and inspected the New M'banza Kongo Airport, in the Province of Zaire on May 27, which is being constructed by POWERCHINA.

During the inspection, Lourenço listened to reports regarding the overall planning, engineering construction content, construction organization, and subsequent implementation plans for the New M'Banza Congo Airport.

He expressed recognition of the phased achievements made in the project's construction. He also pointed out that the project is a vital infrastructure development for northern Angola, holding great significance for perfecting the national aviation transport system, enhancing regional connectivity, and promoting regional economic and social development.

The New M'Banza Congo Airport Project is being built in accordance with international civil aviation standards. It features a 4E-grade runway and a category II (CAT II) instrument landing system.

The construction covers core facilities including a terminal building, air traffic control tower, operations building, fire station, apron, and runway. Once completed, it will upgrade the aviation transport support capacity of northern Angola.

POWERCHINA will continue to uphold high-quality contract fulfillment, strengthen on-site organization and construction management, and push forward the project construction, striving to build the New M'Banza Congo Airport Project into a demonstration model for China-Angola infrastructure cooperation.
