International employees visit POWERCHINA's business showcase center to learn more about the company's projects.

Eight international employee representatives from POWERCHINA's six overseas regional headquarters recently traveled to China to participate in a cross-cultural exchange program.

As the first stop on their journey, they visited a pumped-storage power station constructed by POWERCHINA for an on-site field study. Nestled among the mountains, the station features two reservoirs connected by reversible pump-turbine units housed in an underground powerhouse.

The station pumps water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir during off-peak electricity hours, storing energy for later use, and releases the water to generate power during periods of peak demand. This process achieves "peak shaving and valley filling," ensuring the efficient use of clean energy.

"I have been involved in many of POWERCHINA's power projects, but this is the first time I've seen a pumped-storage power station with my own eyes," said Adlane Bayou, an engineer from Algeria. "Standing here on the construction site, looking at these massive units and the intricate network of pipelines, I truly feel the weight of the phrase 'energy transition.' POWERCHINA is not just building power stations, but driving a greener future."

To help international employees gain a deeper understanding of China's history and culture, POWERCHINA also organized cultural excursions to iconic landmarks, including the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Badaling Great Wall.

Standing atop the Badaling Great Wall, Mubarak Hussain from Bangladesh recorded a video. "This is the Great Wall! I am a 'true hero' now!" he exclaimed. "Before this, my impression of China was limited to news and movies. Over the past few days, I have seen the real China – one with a magnificent history, advanced technology, and a company that treats us like family."

Before the exchange program concluded, the international employees took group photos with the Chinese colleagues they had bonded with over the past few days. Southammavong Thipkesone, a marketing assistant from Laos, shared her thoughts: "I used to feel that headquarters was very distant, but now I see it as a real, warm, and friendly team. I will take this understanding back to my post and share it with my colleagues."

For years, POWERCHINA has continued to deepen its localized operations and strengthen cross-cultural integration. Guided by an open and inclusive talent philosophy, the company remains committed to cultivating local talent pools around the world.
