Faculty and students from UAE universities experience China's rich traditions at the event.
The China-UAE Dragon Boat Festival Intangible Cultural Heritage Exchange Event was held in the UAE on June 17, ahead of the traditional Dragon Boat Festival. The event was hosted by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Dubai, and co-organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Dubai, POWERCHINA, and Yuxiangyuan Traditional Cultural Center.
In her opening remarks, Ou Boqian, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Dubai, expressed hope that both sides will continue to deepen cultural exchanges and mutual learning, foster greater understanding and friendship between their people, and contribute to the Global Civilization Initiative, harnessing the power of intercultural dialogue to promote peace and development.
The event featured presentations on the history of the Dragon Boat Festival alongside interactive cultural activities, which were enthusiastically received by guests. Faculty and students from various UAE universities joined POWERCHINA employees at the tables to wrap zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), craft scented sachets, weave multicolored bracelets, participate in a traditional hand-washing ritual, and experience Chinese tea ceremonies and hanfu (traditional clothing).
The event marks another milestone for POWERCHINA in promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning between the two nations. As a Chinese infrastructure enterprise deeply rooted in the UAE, POWERCHINA is not only advancing green and low-carbon project construction, but also utilizing traditional Chinese festivals to build face-to-face communication platforms for Chinese and UAE people, boosting China-UAE friendly cooperation.
