The Mpilo Bridge Project in Lesotho, constructed by POWERCHINA, broke ground on June 29.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Lesotho's Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara said the project is intended to relieve traffic congestion, boost the overall carrying capacity of the capital city, Maseru, improve national infrastructure and enhance public well-being.

Furthermore, she expressed hope that all participating units will collaborate closely, maintain high construction standards, and deliver on commitments to ensure the project is completed safely and to a high standard. The goal is to complete this landmark public-benefit project as scheduled, contributing to Lesotho's socio-economic growth.

The project involves the construction of three bridges, an underpass, and connecting roads. It also features a full suite of ancillary works, including roadbeds, pavements, drainage networks, pedestrian walkways, street lighting, traffic signage, landscaping, and retaining walls. It will play a critical role in optimizing the urban transportation network.
