The South Africa-China Electricity & Energy Investment Conference, hosted by South Africa's Department of Electricity and Energy and the South African Embassy in China, was held at the POWERCHINA headquarters from Aug 3 to 4.

Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, South Africa's Minister of Electricity and Energy, hopes that Chinese companies like POWERCHINA will fully leverage their strengths in energy, power, and infrastructure projects. He encouraged them to establish a strong presence in South Africa, enhance cooperation in multiple areas, support the country's sustainable growth, and help create a new chapter of friendship between the two nations.

Wang Xiaojun, vice-chairman of the board and general manager of POWERCHINA, noted that by aligning with South Africa's energy development needs, POWERCHINA aims to deepen cooperation in power system planning, clean energy development and utilization, power infrastructure construction, and synergistic industrial chain development. This approach aims to create a new Chinese-South African cooperation model in the current era, supporting the economic and social progress of both nations and benefiting their peoples.

During the keynote speeches and panel discussions, several Chinese and South African guests conducted in-depth seminars on topics such as South Africa's power supply and demand situation, development planning, strategic investments, and other macroeconomic policies. They also covered project bidding, engineering implementation, investment and financing, localization, and emerging new technologies, offering insights and solutions to various investment-related questions.

This conference established a two-way exchange platform, facilitating precise matchmaking between South African government departments and potential investment opportunities with Chinese strategic partners such as investors, financiers, manufacturers, and technology providers. It further deepens long-term partnerships among all parties, supporting South Africa's energy security, industrial development, and economic growth.
