POWERCHINA and MORUWASA sign contract for the Morogoro Mindu Dam Raising Project.
The contract for the Morogoro Mindu Dam Raising Project was signed on July 31 between the Morogoro Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (MORUWASA) in Tanzania and POWERCHINA.
Located in the Morogoro Region, the contract includes the raising of the dam and spillway, water quality and water level monitoring, and dam safety monitoring, with the Mindu Reservoir being the primary urban water supply source for the city of Morogoro.
Once completed, the project will increase the reservoir's storage and regulation capacity, alleviate urban water shortages, meet future water demands driven by population growth and industrial development, enhance the region's resilience against climate change and droughts, and provide a solid water resource guarantee for the sustainable economic and social development of Morogoro.
Water conservancy and water affairs have long been core strengths for POWERCHINA in the Tanzanian market. To date, the company has implemented a series of projects, including the new Arusha water supply system, Mwanza urban water supply system, Dar es Salaam Bangulo water supply system, and Kidunda Dam.
The commissioning of these projects has improved local water conditions and enhanced public welfare and living standards. POWERCHINA will continue to utilize its technical expertise in the water sector, ensuring high-quality project execution and contributing to the sustainable development of local water conservancy.
