The main transformer of the Skun Substation – part of the Cambodia National Grid 230kV Substation Project Group built by POWERCHINA – has energized on the first attempt. All operating parameters met the required standards, and the station entered a 24-hour continuous trial operation phase.
The milestone marks the near-completion of core construction tasks for this key Cambodian power grid project, laying a strong foundation for its full commissioning on schedule and writing a brand-new chapter in China-Cambodia power infrastructure cooperation.
The Cambodia National Grid 230kV Substation Project Group is a key livelihood-focused power project. It aims to eliminate transmission bottlenecks in central Cambodia's power grid and enhance the reliability and stability of the regional power supply.
As the core hub station of the project, the Skun Substation plays a critical role in connecting multiple surrounding load centers and transmitting electricity. After being put into operation, it will alleviate the long-standing electricity shortages in Kampong Speu Province and surrounding areas, providing stable power support for local residents' daily lives, agricultural irrigation, and industrial park development.
Moving forward, the project team will continue to maintain on-site operations and monitor key parameters to ensure the station successfully completes its trial operation and transitions to commercial operation, supporting the continued upgrading and development of Cambodia's power grid.
