The 500kV Transmission Line Project in Piauí, Brazil, constructed by POWERCHINA, was connected to the grid on the first attempt and commenced commercial operations on Sept 9. Finishing ahead of schedule, the project marks a milestone in transitioning from construction to full commercial service.
As a vital infrastructure and livelihood project for upgrading the power grid in Brazil, the transmission line spans a total length of 304 kilometers with 611 transmission towers built. Once operational, the project will further improve Piauí's power transmission network, enhance regional power transmission capacity and energy resource allocation, and address local grid supply bottlenecks. It will provide safer, more stable, and reliable power support for industrial upgrading, livelihood electricity security, and high-quality socio-economic development in Piauí.
The project faced numerous challenges, including complex terrain, a lengthy route, scattered work sites, difficult local transportation, and a tight construction window. Despite these hurdles, the project team closely tracked progress against key milestones, coordinated work schedules, and optimized the allocation of labor, equipment, and materials to complete construction a full month ahead of schedule. This achievement earned high praise from the client and paved the way for early power transmission and on-time commissioning.
