Construction starts on the Imereti Wind Power Project.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Imereti Wind Power Plant Project in Georgia took place in the capital city of Tbilisi on Sept 7.
The Imereti Wind Power Project is planned to feature 13 wind turbine generators with a total installed capacity of 104 MW. This marks another milestone project showcasing the continued partnership and joint expansion into the international energy market by Sichuan Energy Investment Development Co and POWERCHINA, following their collaboration on the Manang Marsyangdi Hydropower Station in Nepal.
In 2010, POWERCHINA entered the Georgian market and won the international bid to restore the Rikoti Highway Tunnel on the E60 Highway, making it the first Chinese enterprise to secure a contract in the Black Sea region. So far, POWERCHINA has completed nine projects and currently has two more under construction.
The Rikoti Highway Tunnel restoration was praised by the former Georgian president as the country's "fastest and highest-quality engineering project" and earned POWERCHINA the title of Georgia's best international contractor.
Furthermore, the E60 Highway Section F0 built by POWERCHINA opened to traffic in August 2025. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze attended the opening ceremony and spoke highly of POWERCHINA's work.
