POWERCHINA signs the contract for Rabigh 2 IPP Expansion Project.
The signing ceremony for the Rabigh 2 Independent Power Plant (IPP) Expansion Project in Saudi Arabia was held on Oct 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Peng Gang, President of POWERCHINA MENA, stated in his speech that as the world's largest electric power engineering contractor, the company has accumulated extensive professional experience and a solid engineering track record, especially in the Saudi market.
POWERCHINA will work hand in hand and cooperate with all partners to ensure the safe, efficient, and comprehensive completion of all construction tasks for this project, deliver a high-quality flagship project to the client, and jointly inject strong momentum into Saudi Vision 2030.
Located in Rabigh, the project boasts a total installed capacity of 2,400 MW , making it one of the largest gas-fired combined-cycle power generation projects in the region.
The project covers the full design, engineering, procurement, erection,construction, commissioning, and performance testing of the plant,. As a key project under Saudi Arabia's national transformation program, the power plant features high-efficiency power generation capabilities in both single-cycle and combined-cycle modes.
It can meet the soaring electricity demand driven by local industrial development and population growth, while enhancing the stability and reliability of the Saudi national power grid. This will help address the challenges posed by large-scale new energy grid integration to the safe and stable operation of the grid, further consolidating Saudi Arabia's position as a regional investment hub and energy security center.
