A delegation of the World Bank visits the Mwache Multipurpose Dam Project built by POWERCHINA.
A 55-member delegation from the World Bank's East and West Africa regional water teams – led by Pieter Waalewijn, a senior water resources management and irrigation specialist – visited the POWERCHINA-built Mwache Multipurpose Dam Project on Oct 1 in Kenya for an exchange.
Overlooking the left bank of the main dam, the delegation toured the site to learn about construction progress, layout, and key milestones. Drawing on the project's development history and site conditions, the POWERCHINA execution team introduced the background, primary engineering components, and current status of the project, while discussing key focus areas with the delegation.
This visit provided an important on-site platform for the World Bank's professional team to gain insights into the full-process implementation logic and management practices of large-scale water infrastructure projects.
The Mwache Multipurpose Dam is a vital water infrastructure project in Kenya. Upon completion, it will provide stable urban and rural water supply, support agricultural irrigation, and generate clean energy for the local community.
POWERCHINA remains committed to meeting the project's construction and delivery goals by steadily advancing every phase of work. It aims to build on its experience in implementing large-scale international water projects and strengthen communication and exchange with international organizations, industry associations, and professional think tanks. By improving project delivery and expanding its influence, POWERCHINA strives to establish a replicable model for infrastructure development and sustainable growth in Africa.
