The River Training Works, Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project is located in Bangladesh, approximately 50km south of Dhaka, and it forms an important part of the Bangladesh national major project - the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project. The project has a total Contract Amount of about USD 1.113 billion, and ranks the world's largest river training works. The project owner is Bangladesh Bridge Authority, and the Contractor is POWERCHINA Harbor Co., Ltd..
The project, with a total length of 13.5km is designed to protect the revetment and bridge from eroding by river flow. The project started on 31st December 2014 and is expected to be completed in June 2022.
After completion, the whole project will connect the undeveloped areas in southwest Bangladesh with the capital city Dhaka, drive the economic development of Bangladesh and greatly improve the local's livelihood. At the same time, the whole project will become one of the important corridors of the "Pan-Asian Railway" linking China and Southeast Asia.
